Dual Display Option Query

I have just got a Mac Mini to replace my old Windows desktop which I used to run 2 x VGA 19" LCD displays.

I am currently using one display via a Thunderbolt to VGA cable.

I would like to use the other display (VGA input only) with the HDMI port.

I have a cable, HDVI to DVI which came with the Mac, but do I need a hardware box to convert from DVI to VGA?
Or can I use a DVI/VGA adapter as on my old desktop the graphics card had one VGA and one DVI output so able to run a dual monitor system.

Or would it be best to buy a DVI monitor?
