Duration of Asus BIOS Flash Upgrade

Having just initiated a BIOS upgrade, I'd like to know how long this process will take. Can anyone please give a rough estimation how long it should take for the Award flash utility to upgrade the BIOS to a given image??

Thanks in advance.

I'd say ~1 minute. Most likely less though. I know it writes it then checks it.

Thanks for your prompt reply. Well I'm afraid its been running for over 15 mins and still not completed. Still got 'Please Wait' message flashing.

Assuming something's gone wrong, am I right in thinking a restart even after waiting a substantial duration of time should be considered unthinkable and will as good as render the montherboard useless???

Should I just keep waiting in the hope it will complete or is shutting down and restarting the only option???

Though even if you are refering to Asus only, there are different kinds of BIOS and its size, it is clearly extraordinary when it takes over 15 mins or so.

Surely we sometimes must wait over 15 minites, particularly when BIOS is gone and we are reviving it. In some case of reviving, we must leave it alone whole day or still longer.

There is no other ways than waiting before we can check the cause and improve system, whether it is floppy or unstable power.

P.S. As Asus adopted crash-free bios, it should not be easily broken when power is off. However, there is possibility that that part of bios itself is working incorrectly now.

The flash utility seemed to have hung, but luckily at the very begginning so there was no lasting damage to the BIOS.

After using a different utility, I have managed to update the BIOS (from AWARD p4t 1004 to p4t 1006). Only took a 2mins.

Thanks for the advice.
