DVD/CdRW not reading CDs but plays DVDs
Hi
I have a Compaq Evo laptop running XP professional SP2. The DVD/CDRW can play DVDs without problems but can't read any cds either audio or data. I can't see how this is possible. Has anyone come across this before ? If so how do you resolve it ? Many thanks

Its broken. If you have a warranty take it back to the store & get them to fix it. It happens that the cdrom part will break but the dvd part will keep working.

yeah man, that thing is shot. theres no real way to fix that, so just pray your warranty is still active and get either a new drive, or a whole new machine
