Epson Twain and Microsoft WIA conflicting

I have a problem with my Epson 1250 Perfection. It was working well, but when changed the motherboard+CPU and then installed XP SP2, the scanner works in paintshop Pro 8 using WIA as input mode but with Twain input mode paintshop stucks on Acquired and the prog freezes. I dont want to use WIA because it lacks features and is crappy.

Scanner and USB are working well.

The only way I partially solved the problem is by swtching off the WIA service, but then the camera A80 downlaod would not work and in that case I have to enable WIA again. I cannot have both Twain drivers for scanner and WIA for A80/camera downloads

There should be a way that both works well together as in XP SP1

Thank you...

Send a message via MSN to Nic_Italiano
After installing WinXP SP2, try re-installing the device drivers.

Unhappy Same Problem

Just so you are not feeling left out, I too am having similar problems with the epson twain Driver, only that my PC reboots after crashing.

The problem started after I updated a patch to XP SP1 and after trying to solve it had to rebuild my PC but updated to XP SP2, this I have found to have the same problem. PC crashing.

I am hoping to try loading a 2nd Operating system with XP SP1 only and see if this resolves my problem, but it would mean having to boot into this to do any scanning. Not ideal.

Any other ideas most welcome.
