    External hard drive for backing up data


    i need a get an external hard drive, one that most preferably plugs into the USB port to backup some important stuff primarely my database information from my website.

    i dont know alot about external hard drives, is there a brand thats known to be good and will last? or more importantly a brand that sells cheapo external hard drives (to stay away from)

    I have a western digital passport HD and works quite well it doesn't need any external power supply, very convinient for a laptop use.
    for desktop u can get a maxtor or seagate

    (Oo;?(I'm using several craps, there seems compatibility in the beginning. None the less, it is very convenient for temporary storage.)

    And we have been finding loads of USB troubles in this forum. USB itself relies on CPU condition, so that you had better not expect much reliability on USB in stead of its high flexibility.

    Either Western Digital or Maxtor would be suffice - both are good makes and reliable.
