First Build, a Success :)

i assembled my first computer a few days ago and it ran flawlessly from the first boot up. just followed the instructions in the manuals and the tips from these forums. here is my final system setup:

Processor - AMD Athlon XP 2600+ 333 FSB (stock speeds)

Motherboard - Abit NF7-S2 nForce2

Grafix card - Sapphire ATI Radeon 9800 Pro

Heatsink - Zalmon CNPS6000 Copper Heatsink

Power supply - Thermaltake Silent PurePower 420W

Memory - Corsair VS PC3200 1Gig (default timings 2.5-3-3-8)

and a Sata hard drive

i still have a two questions though, since my HDD is Sata and i only have one IDE CD-RW, is it ok for me to leave it on the first ide channel set as master? lastly, are these memory timings decent or can i lower them?

Well it's pretty easy when the motherboard manual tells you everything you already know... lol

1. Yes, that is fine.
2. Those timings are decent. You can try to lower them if you want, but it will almost certainly require upping the Vdimm and won't improve performance too much. If you're going the extreme OC "get every last bit of performance" route, go ahead, but there isnt a functional reason.
(3)Congrats, glad it all worked
