It will be fine for most stuff. Don't really need the prescott, in fact at that speed i'd probably recommend northwood instead. Don't know much about Asrock, I like Abit, Asus, and MSI. Be sure you're getting a good power supply for everything, thats one of the most important parts. If you use multiple programs at once or game, you'll probablly want a gig of ram.

yea i'm saying the same as karsh about the more ram. cuz if u want to add more later u wont be able to run in dual channel, so better to get a gig now

If you got another pair of matched sticks you should still be able to run dual channel. The need depends on your use.

May depend on the board, but yes you can, as long as each pair is matched. I'm running 4x256mb in dual channel at this very moment.

ahhhh. that i did not know. but seeing as i have only 3 memory slots i shouldn't have to worry about that
![]() that's why i suggested he buy the bigger sticks now cuz i thought he wouldnt be able to use the small ones once he got more, at least not in dual channel. good thing to know though ![]() |

speaking of memory, are you supposed to up its voltage too when overclocking the cpu? or is that separate business?

Separate. You only up voltages when needed for stability on either the cpu or ram.
