Question graphic card in laptops

hi all,
i actually have a question but i am not sure if it's relevant. u see, do you all think that a good graphics card is needed to be installed in a laptop?lets say i am using an intel centrino 1.4ghz. is it necessary for me to install a graphics card?or is the in-built tech in the m/b of pentium centrino sufficient enough? or if i do need to install, what kinda brand and how much graphics card memory?64?128? lets just say, i am not a gamer..so it's just beeing used for programming, databases, report writing, chart generating, light photo editing...stuff like that.

pls advice. Thanking u all in advance.

Mainboard graphics will suit your needs perfectly fine for your needs. besides, I have been unable to locate anything concerning buying a laptop specific graphics card, and there is no way a regular one would fit. My best suggestion would be to buy a laptop mainboard for your needs graphicly if you need an enhancement. If you are concerned about your photo editing, beef up on a bit more RAM, that will give you a better resource base for that.

AFAIK, pretty much all laptop graphics are built in and can't be changed. There are however different chips that can be used, called "mobility" for Radeon and "geForce FX go" for nVidia. Higher end ones with more memory will do better, in fact the newest mobility radeon 9800 will even stack up well with desktop systems (other than the very newest and best).

For your use, anything will be sufficient really. Only games need the high end graphics hardware.
