Hiya,
Westen Digital's SATA "Raptor" drive is 10,000rpm but they are only 40gb each I would advise using two of these in a raid 0 setup totalling 80Gb space with a 300mb transfer rate to take full advantage of this you will probably want to encorporate dual access ram (2x512). For a mobo I would suggest the ASUS A7N8X Deluxe which has SATA raid onboard built around the powerful Nforce 2 chipset. With such a high spec system I would also recomend using a cpu with 400mhz FSB (DDR 400 would also be required) starting at the XP 3000+ although if your an overclocker the barton XP 2600+ should manage a 400 FSB with a nice chunky heat sink saving about £40.

They cost more, but there are now 74 gb raptor 10000 rpm drives, if you don't want to mess with raid (though that would be even faster).

Don't have one, that's in the next computer when they are a bit cheaper. It is even faster than the 36 gb one. http://www.storagereview.com/articl...6WD740GD_1.html for full review
