Find out if there were any electrical storms while you were away, that may have shocked something inside. Chances are good that if there was in fact lightening, and you have no surge protection, you have something that has died. Other than that, make sure each of the sticks of RAM are ok by checking them in another machine.

Nothing changed between when the computer worked and when it stopped working? Did you move it? Does it freeze if you go into bios?

What do you think about with that?
I believe the kernel is working because if I put my hard disk on an other computer it boots and works properly...

Is it possible that the kernel works differnently form a machine to another?

Check all your connections. Try another power supply if you can. Do you need the data on the drive? Can you boot from a floppy?

What do you think about with that? <--(^^;?(Sorry, I sometimes overlook the words.)

But generally speaking, people doesn't expect that same kernel configuration go with different hardware configuration, does it?

In addition, different connection change disk geometry and cause disk error, several examples in this forum.

And I thought "reboot itself when It starts to load " as loading kernel32.dll or hal.dll.

In any ways, what about taking a ntbtlog.txt by msconfig in other PC (maybe it is already there ), it was produced in \windows. Have a look at it. At least it would give some clue.

(^^;?(\i386\kernel32.dl_ There should be. I now confirmed My XP Pro CD.)

Also you find it \Windows\System32\dllcache. (But I now see it in 2003)

When Xp is healthy, any of these broken will be repaired automatically from here. If it fails sfc /scannow can do.

Have you already looked at ntbtlog.txt? it is more important than kernell32.dll (It was nothing but long shot.) If you once used F8 and selected "Use Former Setting" this automatically should be produced.

I think this could be combination of hardware and Windows, because Bios already passed the task over to Windows. If you can connect it to Other PC.

1.
Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

2.
Click the Advanced tab.

3.
Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings to open the Startup and Recovery dialog box.

4.
Clear the Automatically restart check box, and click OK the necessary number of times.

5.
Change PC and Restart your computer for the settings to take effect.

(^^;?(Of course, not fundamental solution, even if it worked. It may freeze this time, but you may see error code.)

For the moment.

try reinstalling the processor

had the same prob a few days ago putting together a new machine. reinstalled the processor (reversed the fan orientation acutually) and now everything works.

if that doesn't work try replacing the power supply. if it still won't work, consider replacing the motherboard.

Hi,

I'm not a hardware specialists...
I understand when you say reinstall the processor but...
I really don't know how to do it!
It it difficult, what do I need to do?

(As far as considering replacing the motherboard I'm not very happy with that because I bought it last year! But If it still don't work....... I'll be forced to admit... )

Thx

I think he meant take off the heatsink, remove the processor, clean it off, and carefully re-install it into the mobo, and re-attach the heatsink.
