HD will not partition or install XP
When I try to install XP booting from CD setup tells me that there is no windows compatible partition on the HD. When I try to partition it nothing happens. Have also tried 2000 and 98. The HD is an 80GB Seagate drive. The Seatools utility also will not partition the drive. I have tried 2 drives, an 80 and a 120 Seagate. Both pass all tests such as chkdisk, diskdoctor, scandisk and run fine as a second drive in my other computer. Both also were working bootable drives until this latest upgrade. New motherboard, new power supply. HD jumpers are correct. Tried many options in the BIOS. The motherboard is ECS L7VMM3. Have also wiped drive with Seatools, writing 1s to entire drive. Any ideas? Finding this very frustrating as this sort of this is usually very routine.
