HDD Wipe
I tried to wipe my hard drive out and came across a little problem
I went into the command prompt, typed "format f:" hit enter, the message "The type of the file system is FAT32." came up and then a question "Enter current volume label for drive F:" What does that mean? what do i enter there? any help is greatly appreciated thanx |

format f doesn't wipe the drive at all, and the data is 99% recoverable. That said, whatever volume label is no longer useful. You need use another way to wipe it cleanly.

It's just asking for a name for the drive, enter what you want, or leave it blank. Formatting that way wil not securely erase the data, as it is recoverable but that shouldn't matter, unless you work for the CIA, KGB or www.kiddyfiddler.com! It's how i format my drive, and so do most people.
