Unhappy Help with my video card fan problem

hey guys,

i am having a problem with my video card.

It is a geforce4 ti4200 128mb.

My problem is that the fan on it is not spinning and the card is overheating, and causing bluescreen.

Does anyone know how i might be able to fix this problem and if it is a common problem?

Thanks guys!

Is dust clogging it? Is the fan getting power? You could try installing a case fan - it wont solve the prob but the card should last longer before it overheats giving you some time to work. yoll prob end up replacing the fan or the card.

Buy a new fan, there are quite a few available. I have a Vantec Iceberq on my video card. Just be sure to check compatibility before you buy one. Then you just remove the old fan, clean off the thermal paste, put on new thermal paste, and attach the new fan. It plugs in to the same connection as the old fan. Its pretty easy, but post back if you run into difficulties.
With a card as old as yours, its not unusual for the fan to give out.

lol, yea thanks guys.

My only problem is i think it may be realted to the actual video card.

It all co-incided with this massive problem i had with my PC.

i just wanted to check to see if you guys knew if it was a common problem.

I am currently working around it with a CPU fan

its temporary of course.. but it works
