SATA should be nothing but ATA serial-cabled, so check general IDE settings and whether bios can support yours or not.

My drive is not the IDE type. I need to configure RAID and i cant, all options is bios utility for doing this seems disables but detects drive and works fine.
MB help says it has mirroring feature to backup data from one drive to each other, thats y i wonder if i need another one by default.

I dont use SATA, but is your BIOS outdated or to old, maybe your BIOS dosent support your nifty new SATA drive correctly.

Sounds like you're trying to set up RAID. You need two or more drives to implement RAID. You don't need to use RAID to use SATA drives though, so if you have only one drive, just disable the RAID function.

(^~;??(Who knows your bios settings without necessay information.)

If yours has built-in SATA raid card, you should find setting menus somewhere in advanced menu or so, and of course you need one more drive when you want to use mirroring. In addition, hardware raid is not recognized from OS generally.
