High-Voltage Monitor Power
When I switch on my old monitor, it sounds like "clicking" several times before coming up. Sometimes it may "click" for half an hour... I suspect the high-voltage transformer, as the clicks sound like a high-voltage discharge. Only when the clicks end I see the filament in the screen tube becoming hot, and the screen coming up.
Is there an idea what component to replace, and is it worthy working on it? Thanks, Izak. |

Quite honestly trying to repair a monitor is like hoping that you can make it swimming accross the Pacific Ocean and not drowning... There is so much built up power in a monitor and it lasts for a while, even after you turn the monitor off. I would highly recommend taking the monitor to a repair shop that deals with monitor repair or just buying a new one.
If the monitor is fairly new, you might want to consider calling the OEM of the monitor and seeing if you can get any kind on refurbished replacement, or if you are lucky, a new one.

if you do not know electronics, stay out of there, on the high voltage side it generates up to 25000 volts and will kill you dead real fast. new mointers arer a lot cheaper to buy than have the old ones repaired. above all if you do decide to play with the mointer, make sure you discharge the anode first or you will be killed.
