how to test my mainboard?

hi friends,,
i need to test my mainboard whether, it works or not?

i only pluged the main board cable from the Power supply to the mainboard and didnt see any lights burning on the mainboard?

does this means that my mainboard is defect?
or is there any other solutions to test it ?

thanks for your answer
-stagy

Can you be a bit more specific as to what exactly is wrong with it? does it turn on? is it not reading certain devices?...etc

You can switch on the machine by making contact between an object (eg. screwdriver) and the Power SW PIN, aslong as you have it on I and O, it will switch on or off.
