Inspiron 2500 Not Booting Properly
I have an inspiron 2500 laptop that recently stopped working properly. Here is what happened.
It locked up on me. Once it froze I turned it off by holding down the Power Button until it would go off. When I rebooted it the power light came on and the fan ran but the hard drive did not come on. Eventually I pulled the hard drive, CD, A:, and PC cards, I also pulled and re-inserted the RAM. It finally rebooted and would run for just a few minutes before exhibiting the same symptons. I have reformatted and installed windows ME thinking it was just a software glitch. I have ran the Dell diagnostics on it and everything test fine. However, I still seem to have the problem of the computer rebooting on me and not coming back on until I reset the RAM or Hard Drive.
It seems to lock-up after a few minutes of inactivity, or when I do things like insert a CD or Floppy. However, there is no repeatable acts that make it lock up. It is relatively radom.
The Laptop is a 800MHz, and is about 2.5 yrs old.
