keyboard problem "don't know why???"
Hi folks,
This is strange, i've used this keyboard for years until recently, it acts so weird, the 'a' key and the '1' key and tab as well does not respone correctly. i.e. I have to pressed it several times in order to get a character after that it works fine, but later it happens again...really annoys me. So could anybody plz show me what's wrong here, I have just format my disk and installed windows 2000...that was not the cause right??? |

Dirt
Have you removed the keys to ensure that there is no dirt in them, if there is it will result just like a ball mouse, it wont read it correctly, try that, if that dosent work, looks like you keyboard has died or the AT or PS/2 port may be faulty.

Most desktop keyboards consist of a a silicon mat under the keys. On the bottom of the mat are conductive "dots" made from conductive silicon rubber. When a key is pressed, it presses down on the top of the silicon mat, which in turn causes the conductive dots on the bottom of the mat to make an electrical short on a circuit board. The location of the short determines which keycode gets sent to the computer. In time, the conductive dots can form and electrically inert layer on them from normal use. It is quite possible that this has occured. Solution: toss the keyboard and spend $20 from a new one.

it's a hardware problem. you may notice that 'A', '1' and 'tab' key are placed on the same area. i think it's not a coinicidence that it happened at the same time. buy yourself a new keyboard.
