if you have a VGA-out on the back of the laptop you could use that instead of the LCD and plug that into a monitor

The RAM from your Laptop won't fit into your dell computer. Latop componants just arn't the same as desktop ones. Best bet is as mentioned, plug your normal dell monitor into the back of the laptop and use that. To switch display to the external monitor on my laptop you press Fn (function key) and F10. You may have to check the icons on keys of your laptop to find the right combination. |

If extenal monitor not an option, then you could use is the hard disk, there are Latop to Desktop-IDE converters can get for around $10-20. Pull the RAM (if not integrated) and use to upgrade a different laptop or sell/trade it at a used computer place. May also be able to pull the CD/DVD to use as upgrade for differnet laptop (or can get slimline CD converter to attach to a desktop, if is a slimline CD/DVD). I would also say keep the power cable if has AC/DC converter on the cable as may be able to sell it to someone with same model (as backup for them) or used computer place.
