Laptop - External Mouse Problems
I recently purchased a Laptop which has a Touchpad. I found out that the touch pad is a pain in the butt, so I bought a Kensington PocketPro Mouse.
When I play games, my mouse spins out of control. For example: Playing a first person shooter game, it will aim up and spin in circles. It does this approx every 5 minutes which is very annoying. I tried installed the newest drivers and still have the problem. Has anyone had this problem OR know how to fix it? Thanks |

What laptop? Have you tried disabling the touchpad when you play?

if your mouse is optical, you will have problems with it if the surface you are using it on is a single solid color, especially if it's black (like a black desk or mousepad.) A simple thing to try might be to use the mouse on something like a pad of paper, or a book or something like that. the optical mice work on taking thousands of pictures a second, then comparing them to trace movement. if it can't tell one picture from the next, your movement won't register and it can jump a whole lot. one of the lady's here where i work uses it on her solid black desk and every so often it can jump all the way from one corner to the other in less time it would take you to double click.

I never had a problem using an optical mouse on a black mousepad. I'm using one right now, I use on at home. Black mousepads all around. The one next to me is a Logitech. At home it's a Kensington.
I have one of these described pocket mouses. I have not had this problem with it, but maybe it is because the mouse is powering down (the battery saving thing)? I took the "Designed for Windows XP" sticker off my laptop and just use the surface to the right of the touchpad as my mousing surface. Works fine (again, solid color). I have used my pants as a mousing surface for an optical, for that matter. ![]() |

I don't know the games well. But It seems to me that the game is trying to use some particular functions and doing in vain.
Upgrade DirectX and Confirm the activity by DirectX Diag from tools menu of System Information. |
