Exclamation Laptop with a an flickering screen! Please help!

Hi,
I have a Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop. The problem with this machine is that the screen starts flickering so I could hard see anything when I go to certain folders but once I hit the back button the problem disappears. When I go to the same page again the problem is still there.
Please help!
Thanks a lot!

(^^;?(If you say "When I go to certain folders", the folders should have the souces of problems)

What kind of folders is it and what does it contain? What is it in properties? When it happened? Is there any weird things besides this?

Actually the problem is more serious since even browsing the Internet and also the control panel somtimes cause the weird flickering: botton half of screen is black and the top is flickering so that I could hardly see the background of the page.

(^^;?(If it is not caused by drivers or DirectX corruption,...)

I think something is making use of their functions wrongly. Check drivers condition and dxdiag first. Next check in msconfig whether there are any strange services and programs or not. Consider the use of Hijackthis and post it to Antivirus section.

If I reinstall windows would that fix the problem? Somebody told me that it might be a hardware problem like the lCD or a cable. It may also be the video card. Would that be a possibility?

I hooked up my laptop to a monitor and the flickering stopped. Right now the flickering happens only when I go to the control panel but again the problem disappears when my laptop is connected to a monitor. This is weird!!!
Please help!

I hooked up my laptop to a monitor and the flickering stopped. <--(^^;?(Hmm, then that LCD itself is weird is highly thinkable.)

LCD doesn't have so long longevity from the start. II think the inverter whereabouts is acting up. If you can improve it even a bit by reinstalling or driver update, you must think it is a windfall.
