Laptop wont boot.
i have a fujitsu lifebook, and this thing wont boot at all. the machine POSTs, and is functional in the bios, recognizes all memory and disks, but after POSTing, the machine sits at a black screen. at this point it only responds to ctrl-alt-del which resets the machine. i can hit a bunch of keys, up to 17, but then after the 17th stroke, the laptop starts beeping at each key i press.
my first instinct was to change the boot order so the CD is #1, put in a linux live cd, but same thing happens. ive put in various bootable cds such as freebsd install, gentoo install, windows install, knoppix, but they all fail. the cd will spin up after POSTing, but after that, the laptop is as dead as a doorknob.
ive also taken out the memory sticks, and leaving only one of them in the machine and swapping them, but same results as before.
any ideas?
