monitor pick-up

hi!

i'm a web developer.
so far i did all my stuff on my laptop until its mother board splited up (Toshiba Satellite 1805 S203). and now i'm going to invest desctop.

the only question i got is what kinda monitor to use?

LCD or CRT?

I've heard that new LCD generation is quite good for graphics, isn't it? Or should i buy CRT after all?

So could YOU explain which type is the best?
Also could you point the manufacturer and model name of it please?

Both LCD and CRT have their strong points. Obviously, if space is an issue, an LCD is desirable because it is much thinner. If you do a lot of gaming, CRT's typically have better response, though the newest LCD monitors are very good too. You can get higher resolutions better with a CRT. CRT's are much cheaper. Its really your choice, based on the above factors.
I personally have an LCD screen, use it for gaming, and love it. I've never noticed any problems with any type of use. I use 1024x768 resolution.

LCD vs CRT comparison
Things to look at in an LCD
My monitor is a MAG, my brother has a viewsonic (even older than mine). Both are good.

myself bieng 3d visualiser, i find LCD displays very annoying. 1st of all the depth of field is nowhere near compared to CRTs. second the vibrancy of color. no matter what color profile u use, the colors remain a bit dull.

i have a lot of eyestrain with the LCDs. my own comp has a 25 inch CRT. so i would reccommend you a 23 or a 25 inch CRT which is capable of supporting at least 1600*1200 resolution, more the better. look for Sony, LG and Samsung. mine is samsung. and it has faithfully served me for the last 3 years.
