I need the exact same solution. Same as the person above, I am not computer illiterate, and I assembled my current computer. However, I am clueless as far as connecting the two hard drives. Any help would be very much appreciated. BTW: I at first disconnected the slaved disk drive (not much use for it except for a DOS bootdisk) and tried connecting that to the HD, and didn't work.

I would put the optical drives on one channel (cable), and the hard drives on the other. Set one to master, other to slave. If you can't change how the first cable is set up, just hook the new hdd on with the dvd, set one master, the other slave. If you already have installed an OS and everything, you should be able to boot, the second drive should be detected, then you need to format and partition and you're all set.
