Hello all--
I've built myself a new computer (Abit IS-10 w/ P4 3.0 ghz.. ) and whenever I try to add a sound card to the pci slots, it will recognize it and boot in windows.. but when i haev my sound card in, my networking card will not work.. The networking card is onboard, and the sound card is a sound blaster live!. There is an onboard sound card but i disabled that in bios. Basically I cannot have both my PCI sound card in the slot. I've also tried another PCI sound card in the same spot, as well as the other 2 PCI slots and I get the same results.. sound cards work, but networking card doesnt work.. says "no network cable found." (but it obviously is plugged in with link lights.) Anyway, I checked windows for resource / irq errors and there werent any, so im not sure what the deal is.. could it be a problem with the motherbaord since it is brand new? please help if you can ![]() |

Hi darkbird,
It does sound like your new sound card is trying you use the same resouces as the network card. Check in Device Manager for I/O range and IRQ conflicts with both the sound card and the network card. I realize most modern motherboards are jumperless, but check your motherboard manual for any jumpers you may have to move to disable your onboard sound. Tom
