New Ram = Game Crashes

I recently bought a new stick of 512mb (pc3200) double sided hynix ddr which is exactly the same as the stick already in my computer, same speed, same brand. my computer specs are:
Abit KV7
Athlon xp 2500+
hynix 512mb ddr
geforce 4 mx 440
And ever since i put the new stick of ram in every time i go to play almost any of my games eg, doom3 and painkiller it comes up with a windows error and makes the game crash, but when i take the either of the sticks out and leave 1 remaining everything works fine. Since both the ram sticks are exactly the same i was thinking it would probably not be a compatibility problem but maybe there is something wrong with my motherboard but i dont know, someone please help.

Check them by memtest from floppy boot.

1.Check each one at different slot.
2.Check both of them in each slot.
3.Change slot each other and check again.

Pull BOTH chips out and clean the contacts with alcohol (Sparingly) if they are gold, use a pencil eraser if they are silver. (I couldn't imagine them being silver if they are new, but hey...)

Next blow out the slots that the chips are seating into. A little bit of dust in there causes LOTS and LOTS of problems...

Next put the NEW chip in the slot of the OLD chip. Leave the old chip out and boot the computer and see how everything runs. If it all runs good, then you probably fixed your problem with cleaning the contacts, etc. Seat the old chip in the open slot and go.

If the problem crops up after you seat the old chip in the other slot and the problem comes back, then it might be the motherboard...

If the problem happens with the new chip in the first slot, you might have bad memory...

Give that a shot.
