new video card boot problem

I recently received a new (relatively) video card...a gainward gfx5600ultra/760/vin/vout/128...from gainward to replace my old (again, relatively) ti4600 that died under warranty.

I took out my temporary graphics card and replaced it with the new one. I attempted booting...the very first time I got the bios post after the video card information but then a blinking cursor in the upper lefthand corner...nothing else...every time after that all I saw once the video card information came up was the blinking cursor. I put the temporary card back in and it booted normally.

I have a relatively old motherboard...a GA-7IXE4 that supports 1x and 2x agp cards. The video card is 2x 4x 8x and I've installed it in a newer machine and got the same symptoms...so i dont think it's a compatibility issue. My best guess is that the video card is halfway dead? When i took it out of the box they shipped it in it already had a broken fastener holding on a heatsink so apparently ups shook it up a bit, but i didnt think anything of it.

Anyway, I've been without a decent video card for months...im desperate...please help.

Did you uninstall the drivers and such from the old card before you installed the new one? Else, if it arrived broken, I would send it back right away for a replacement.

I was told once already to do that actually (uninstall the drivers first)...I tried it and it failed. I guess it's possible that the card may have failed...i just found it strange that both monitors found come up and show the video card info and yet the card still be broken...it seems the machine would give errors instead and nothing come up at all.

(^^;?(It's not so strange.)

The card had its own video bios, then if the bios has some bugs or misprogrammed, it can occurs.
