Newly Build Machine Not Working

I'm helping my friend set up his computer, which he bought all the parts for recently. The problem is that nothing shows up on the monitor after turning it on. We thought it was the video card, but we tested the card in another machine, and it works. The card is fully compatable with the motherboard. We took out all of the jumper pins except the necessary ones (power, hdd led, etc.), and the machine still doesn't boot. We've also removed all IDE drives, everything is removed except the cpu, ram, and necessary components. There is no beep after the machine has been on for a while. Everything works - fans spin, heat sink spins. We've both set up computers multiple times, and we can't think of what to do. The motherboard is a Soyo SY-P4I875P Dragon 2. Any help would be greatly appreciated

what processor did you use? i've experienced this before with AMD processors. the fans would go, there'd be the ram led, and everything, just no video. it turns out when we put the fan onto the cpu, we scratched the chip, so the processor was just shot.

also could be a DOA motherboard

Check the bios settings. Some bios' have a setting for changing the video mode from vga to agp etc,. Also, if your mobo has onboard video, you need to disable this either in the bios or a jumper settin on the mobo.

Make sure the drive ribbons are connected properly. Seated completely and red wire towards the power supply.

I've run into a similar problem with my Asus A8V. I checked the Soyo site and I believe you're having the same problem. There is a 4 pin 12v power connector near the CPU that must have a power cable in order for the system to POST. It basically powers the CPU from what I gather. I did not catch this right away either because I had never encountered a motherboard like this.

Make sure your motherboard has been grounded properly. I have had a problem like this before, but it turns out it was DOA.

yup....the new p4s well all p4s need to have the 12v (2x2 black and yellow) connector..umm connected.

Usually people (that means me) have to get a new power supply.

I've heard of people fire up their computers without plugging that in and it working fine then it just dying.

When i worked as a tech when i did it, the computer didn't even turn on so i dunno.

i know not plugging it in can make a mother board "DOA" as well

I wanted to toss my two cents in and get some more info on the Post. you mentioned it doesn't beep. So does the computer beep when you turn it on? Try disconnecting the keyboard and trying again. Unless your motherboard's default it to skip the post (i guess its possible but its highly stupid to even begin to think why a manufacture would do this) you should be hearing beeping...if not call up the mB maker
