no dialtone for modem
When I disconnect my connection to the internet and tried to connect again I always received an error saying there's no dialtone. I have to shutdown my pc and wait for awhile before I can make the connection a success.

I have a Motorola modem I used to use before I switched to cable modem. It had the problem you describe. It seems the modem just doesn't hang up the phone when it's done. It leaves the phone line open. I used to have to unplug and plug the phone line back in several times to get the dial tone back. I could never fix my problem. Don't know if a new modem will solver your problem or not. Sorry I don't have the magic modem string ;-)
