Not a very clear question. You need to connect the power switch connectors and such to make it turn on. If you have the power supply plugged in to the mobo, there should be an led that stays on, showing that you have power.
If this doesn't help, clarify your question (paragraphs are your friend)

Though I don't quite understand the sequence of your question...did you connect the wires coming from the case to the motherboard? (ie: power, LED, speaker)

Same Problem
Im glad i ran into this forum because im having the same problem with my pc. It rarely get as far as the memory check as it usually resets as soon as it finishes loading the video info. I tried switching out the memory, the video card, no luck. This is where it gets confusing. Ive switched out the motherboard with a 6 month old Intel Perl board. Same problem. Ive narrowed it down to three things. The processor, the power supply or perhaps the case itself. Ive also experimented with the reset/power hookups on the board, still nothing. Since im having the same problem when i try to use a different board, im assuming its not the board. This one is a real fkup. If ANYONE out there has a suggestion or a potential fix idea, please email me at kholmes@cox.net or post here, im using the wifes computer to hopefully figure this problem.

what kind of power supply do you have? and what is its wattage? do you know if your computer had been running hot prior to the resets? maybe you need a better heatsink or more fans?

Hey,
Good thing that you have narrowed it down to 3 things then eliminated one of them. When I was doing some work in a PC Store, and we didn't have time to throw all the components into a case, we connected the CPU, RAM, Power Supply, and any neede PCI or AGP Devices, and used a flat-head screwdriver to make contact with both the - and + pins on the PowerSW....I think. This resulted in the components stating up. If you try that you will be able to eliminate one more possible fault. If it starts, its the case, if not, PSU (Power Supply Unit) Hope that helps Nic Italiano |

(^^;( I agree with Nic, but power short is not recommended for a beginner, You'd better connect power switch.)
Make configuration minimum as far as you can, no cd, no ide, no surplus ram, no sound card. |

300 w
Im going to try shorting the power pins on the board, I understand the idea behind it, I just lack the needed skills to do any advanced circuitry testing. I dont know why i didnt tell you this before, my case is acrylic, all panels are basically plastic. Ill let you know what i find out.

time to start swapping
part swapping time, removed MB,put back old mb with case and power supply that i thought was bad,and guess what happened? it fired right up!!!so thats good, but it also means that i either did the case pin hookup wrong{i hope} or that the mobo or amd chip{ebay}ic NG.$$$$$

Read the MB connections settings in the manual then verify it against the tiny little writing on the MB.
Say you have something like this: Code:
(Pow LED) (Speaker Cnct) | | | | | | | | | | | | * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * | | | | | | | | (IDE (SMI Lead) (ATX Pow) (Reset) LED) It can be hard to make sure you have it right unless you refer to it off the board. To make matters worse, the system panel connection seems to invite the novice to connect some things vertically. Also, there's a number of other things you should check. There should be no wires other than extra power and IDE connections when you're done left unconnected. |

*sigh*
I wish my problem was that simple. I tried shorting the power pins on the board to boot the computer. It worked for about 2 mins and then refused to boot. I thought, great its the CPU overheating. I then left the memory out on purpose and guess what, I got a post code saying the memory wasnt installed. If the CPU were overheating the computer shouldnt post at all, it should just shut down. Im down to the power supply, its the only thing i can think of that might be causing the problem. Since it was a 300 watt unit, and the fact i had 4 fans, 3 harddrives a cdrom drive and the floppy, i might have fried it somehow. Oh and just in case you're wondering, I have everything disconnected on the power supply, just the requried cpu and board power. Oh well, I allways loved a challenge, until now.
