Odd keyboard trauma
Hey.
I've got so many keyboards in stock here, that I usually don't even bother testing a keyboard reported as broken. But I thought this was so weird that I would see if anyone else has seen this. I had a user the other day report that their keyboard was broken, so I went to see what the trauma was. Turns out that the problem is the LEFT Shift + O. Should make a capital O, right? It does nothing. CAPS then O produces a capital O, as does RIGHT Shift + O. Left Shift + any other letter produces a capital. I find this very strange, and like I said, I've got enough keyboards in stock that I just switched it with another keyboard, which then worked. Anyone seen this? Any ideas? ~JohnnyC

my only thought might be a shorted/broken pathway in that "left-shift / o" combination weird, but not impossible

Beer, coffee, and lemonade all tend to do these mysterious things when you spill them on a keyboard. I know from experience.

I don't doubt they would cause weirdness like this, nor do I doubt my users would spill sh*t like that on their keyboards. Except the beer. |

maybe it would help if you allowed beer in the work place then. i mean, beer might still get spilt into keyboards, but then again, after that, no one may care...

(^^;?(Nothing wrong with you, but Something wrong with keyboard. I think. Unique!)
Right and left shifts is assigned different scancodes by CPU. And Each Key touch is scaned by CPU several hundreds of time per second about both of OFF and ON to distinguish it from other accidental noises. Hence that certain multiple times scaned only is adopted as TRUE. The above is my roughly understanding of functionality, according to this: If both of the left shift and r is unstable touch, the probability of multiple scans that both scan is adopted as TRUE at the same moment will reduce. I supposed thus. |
