Okay a little question about watts
Ok here is my issue over the past few days i have been bothering you guys with sli question
. My question now is, I am going to possibly buy the "PC Power & Cooling 510W Turbo Cool SLI ATX Deluxe Power Supply" and it says it is measured at FULL LOAD thats why its 510, but competitors tests would rate it at 600+.In the xoxide.com site it says that the peak output is 650w, can someone please explain full load, and peak output? And should I get this over the thermaltake one. PC Power Turbo Cool Thermaltake |

Think of it like a truck and top speed. A pickup truck would have a different top speed dependent on it's load. And that a pickup truck has a maximum speed and a maximum load. Exceed a truck's load and the suspension/motor dies, exceed a power supply's load and it faults/dies. Power supply has a maximum output (watts) and a maximum load (resistance). The top output (speed) is affected by the load (weight).
So a pickup truck that has a severe drop in top speed with a small load would not be desired. Same as a power supply which top output (watts) drops drastically with a small load (so you look at peak under load and not just the maximum). Last edited by shakey1980 : March 4th, 2005 at 06:54 AM. |

basically, 510w is what you get , but if required for short periods of time it can cope with upto 650w. I would personally go with the thermaltake.

thanks for the responses, and I think I am going to go with the thermaltake.
