One Keyboard, Two Outputs

Dear Friends,

I require the output from a keyboard, to reach two systems (CPU's) simultaneously.

Can anyone help me in this regard.

Thanks in advance.

You can get some keyboards that have both PS2 and USB connections (I have one). I imagine it would be possible to connect one to each machine and off you go but I have never tried it.

There might also be a way to wire things up so one USB keyboard is connected to two machines but again haven't tried it out myself.

kvm switch. you can have one keyboard, one monitor and one mouse control several computers, all depends on the size of the switch.

a dual kvm switch would probably go for around $70, maybe less. i think best buy, comp usa, circuit city, etc carry them

^^ Unfortunately, a KVM is not an option for this, as the output needs to hit both machines at once. Not even sure if this is possible. I'd be interested to know what your solution is when you get it sorted.

Dear Andreas,
Any idea where to get a keyboard with a USB as well as ps/2 output? Have you purchased it or wired it up?

Dear friends,
I have been searching for a solution, true it is very difficult to find out. I searched the web for long, but then couldn't find an answer to this problem. But, then i've found some devices, which convert USB to two serial outputs.

http://www.usbgear.com/dual-port-rs-422-rs-485-usb-serial-adapter.cfm

SO if we use a USB keyboard, we get two serial outputs.
Is it then possible to convert this two outputs back to individual USB outputs using serial to USB converter?

http://www.provantage.com/buy-22059270-hawking-technology-accessories-cables-uc232s-serial-usb-converter-shopping.htm

Do anyone feel that this will work?

Please do reply, thanks for your earlier views.

Vipin

There is power down the PS2 cable which may pose a problem when you do this.

At work we tried this. Since it was the same brand, both logitechs could connect to it.

However, the problem with this is, you type one word, and it goes on both computers. Say on one machine you're writing a report, on the other your googling. When typing www.google.com, it would go onto both machines.

What tends to happen is when there are two wireless keyboards the receivers change channels.

Also, out of curiousity, vipin, what do you need with a device like this? I see no use for it...

I remember a program where you could move the mouse and leave it at the right for a few seconds and it'd go to another monitor. Is this what you need? I saw it on TechTV in 2003 and I don't know what the program was called. But it worked nicely.
