well, one way to do it might be to simply solder the wires.

Take one PS/2 connector from another mouse, and splice the wires. use a soldering gun/iron to just make your own Y connector. No guarentee that that will work, but it's worth a try, especially if you have a couple of really cheap mice.

This might be a stupid question, but why would you want to do that? Unless both PC's have the exact same software installed, exact same icons, resolutions etc. it wouldn't be much of a help.

Or am I just understanding this wrong?

Let me know what happens when you connect two live 5VDC wires from two distinct different sources (the two computers) ...

Possibly nothing. Or possibly something. I wouldn't try it. But if you do you should check a diagram to see what those pins correspond to.

Hmmm ... I wondered the same.

Mmm, you might want to try something different. Your local Best Buy will have products that can help you with something similar. I suggest you try with them.

*torture? Yes..*

Gar! Best Buy. Is that a plug for Best Buy? Although I did buy my tv from them ... it was pretty cheap and only $30 or something to have two big guys show up at my house and lug it up the steps. Guys looked like retired NFL linebackers and they were huffing and puffing while I'm watching them thinking about the plethora of back and other injuries we share amongst the roommates.

But I digress. What exactly do you expect to find at bestbuy that a specialty cabling company doesn't even have (I checked)?

There is a software program which, installed on both computers, allows the mouse to be shared. Its called synergy, and can be downloaded here. I don't know of a method to make a mouse simultaneously control multiple computers though
