P-ATA not detected in XP

Spec:
AMD barton 3000+
DFI AD77 Infinity
1GB memory
CD-R (pcrw800)
1 S-ATA 80GB Maxtor 6Y080M0
1 P-ATA 40GB Maxtor 6Y040L0

i'm now work whit this system for abbout 6 months. no problems. till now. i shuted down my computer this morning.... and now i start up again and my P-ATA HD is gone.

when i boot it detects the HD........... and then windows XP takes a lot time to load to user login window. (abbout 1 minute when it is normal 3 Seconds)

- i scanned for viruses whit norton antivirus. (none found whit latest defenition update)
- i did look in my computer case but nothing strange whit the HD or cable.
- i uninstalled the Drivers in XP and restarted but still the same problem.
- when i start Partition magic it say's init failed: error 100. partition table is bad.

so can annyone of you tell me what i can do to get my Backup HD back? :-).

ok i fixed it :-) a tool called PTEDIT32.EXE where you can edit your HD's sectors etc... in binary's. now i have my HD back whit doind this
