OK, I am custom building another pc, I have the bare essentials needed to boot into bios installed, but this time I can not get anything to boot at all, no fans, no beeps, no anything. I am using a k7vta3 elitegroup motherboard, and a old geforce 64 agp, and some samsung pc2700 dimm memory. Usually when I have an incompatible component, the pc power would still come on, but this time nothing. Anyone had this problem before? |
Do you have AT or ATX power supply? ATX connectors are 1 piece plugs, impossible to install wrong, but make sure it pushes down till it clicks. AT connectors are 2 piece and the black wires on the side of each connector must be side by side. Cant put them on backward without considerable effort, but can install them reversed.
Check the back of the power supply box for a secondary power switch. Some newer systems have them.
Check wiring to the case, face buttons against the mobo connectors to make sure they are hooked up right. Even though you have the power connected to the board, some boards have power continuity cuircuts that must = correct voltage in order to fire.
Finally, remove everything but the cpu from the board. Try it. If you get power, turn it off & add 1 thing at a time. When you add something and no power, that is your problem item. Either compatability or conflict. If no power when stripped completely down, I would suspect power supply or bad mobo.
