I'd reconsider using two DVD drives, one should be enough; I've had two Pioneer DVD-R / RW drives (the newer one, the DVR-107, is dual format +R/-R) and have been very happy with them. I also understand the new NEC DVD-R/RW drives are very good.
I personally prefer PC Power and Cooling power supplies. I'd go with an Asus mainboard rather than the Abit; I've had both and will not buy anything but Asus if I can help it. I don't know about the WD SATA drive, I'm sticking with EIDE for now. IMHO, the Samsung LCD is not as sharp as the Viewsonic 'G' series, I'd go for one of those. |

OK, Im getting two DVD Drives because I want a ROM to burn....sorry back-up my DVDs. Price isnt really a thing for me, so Im not worried about the cost. I m going for that monitor for its 12ms response time. But Maybe time for a piss before a Far Cry map may be handy....but I'm gonna stick with my guns. I'll probably change the specifications to build a better system with the same money in the future. The last machine I 'tried' to build never made it, I've only got half the parts, so this time I'm gonna buy ALL the parts at once, or again, I'll be half way up **** creek without a paddle.
Does that View Sonic G series, have a good response time? Thanks in advance! |

if i were you i would consider using sony optical drives. they deliver awesome data throughput and seek times. and i would have considered going for intel original M/b and processor. they cost more here in india, but performance wise they are better than amd based systems.

Are you getting just one Raptor? You should get two and put them in a RAID 0 configuration if you are looking for maximum performance. I like Abit, good price and good OC'ing (though the athlon64's don't OC much, so thats not a big deal).
I would consider the pc power&cooling psu's lnxgeek recommended. I've had no bad experiences w/ enermax, but pc power is better. Very nice setup

OK, I was just talkin to somebody, they gave me a quote w/ some parts cheaper, but its Intel based, so Im combining the 2 to make one heel of a system somewhere between $5142 AUS - and - $6471 AUS.
Thanks for your comments guys! |

dude that is a beast of a system. the first three pieces alone cost twice as much as the system i'm trying to put together
hey if price is no thing for you then you could order my parts along with yours and send them across the ocean damn, nice setup ![]() |
