PC won't read "N" drive

My OS is "ME". Both the M and N drives worked great until a month or so ago. M still works perfectly.

When I put a disk into the "N" drive and then try to open it I get the message "Please insert a disk into drive "N". When I right click my mouse I get the normal options one of which is to eject the disk. When I hit that the disk ejects as it should.

Bottom line........ my N drive doesn't know when there is a disk in.

Ideas??? Any help will be honestly appreciated.

Mike

It would probably help to state what sort of device your "N" drive is. CD, DVD, Floppy, etc.? Check the device manager to make sure it is working properly. Update the drivers if necessary. If it's a vintage zip drive or something, it's probably past its prime and is suffering from plain old age.

"N" means nothing in the wide world of drive mapping to anything but your own machine. Generally, that range of letters would be network drives for most folks, if anything at all. I've got A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J ... L ... O ... Z on box W here at the moment. The physical devices stop at E. But if I plug my keychain flash drive in it becomes K. For example.

(^^;?(Does refering to the M and N above all has something to do with this without any reference to actual device, as Medialint says?)

Ideas??? <---(^^;? (Straight idea, it just can't read it, clean it first.)
