Power goes off after boot up

halo everyone,

I just assembled a new pc, but i hit a problem. Each time i press the power on button, it boots up normally, load the windows os properly and then abt a minute later the power just goes off. The timing of the power trip is almost the same time each time i try to switch on my pc.

I am suspecting i assembled my hardware wrongly somewhere and it causes my system to power trip, but i might be wrong.
I suspect , it is less likely a software problem becoz, the is os fully loaded and is idle before the power trip (according the HD flashing LED), then again i might still be wrong.


Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong? Please help me, your assistance and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I figured out its the power safe feature on the motherboard is the fault. It is faulty or that i dont understand what it is trying to do. It keeps power down the entire system even when the system is not idle. I managed to switch it off.

Power safe? You mean to go to hibernate or something to save power when the computer is idle? (power save)
Or something that shuts the psu down when it is overloaded and unsafe? If the former, you're set. If the latter, be sure your psu can handle everything hooked up to it, or you risk damaging your hardware.

I had a similar kind of problem.

We were changing parts etc and turning features on and off and all the problem was was a dodgy heatsink and fan.

Replaced that and no more problems. Lots of motheroards have overheating protection now whereby the board will just switch off if it gets too hot to prevent damage to the processor.
