Unhappy Primary slave isnt recognized

I have just upgraded my motherboard. I have a WD -master drive and Deskstar IC35L060AVVA07-0 as primary slave. My bois recognizes both drives as primary master and primary slave. In Device manager it recognizes both also HOWEVER in "my computer" the slave drive does not show up I have configured the jumpers to everything I can think of still nothing. Even if I set the WD as the slave and the IC3 as the master it wont recognize the IC3. ( the WD is a new drive and the IC3 has files Id like to keep on it) Can you help?

What OS and file system are you using, and are they the same ones you used on the old drive?
Look in the disk manager to see if it has a drive letter, if not, right click on the drive and choose "assign drive letter". If that option is not available you may have to reformat and repartition the drive.

I didn't mean in Device Manager. Look under Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management->Disk Management to see if your disk shows up there and can be assigned a drive letter, or formatted, initialized, something.

Thank you...for clairfying. Under disk management does NOT show the slave drive in the upper window. It DOES show it in the lower window. It says Dynamic..foreign with an exclaimation mark. My choices when right clicking are: import foreign disk, convert to basic disk. now what TY!

Now you should be able to "import foreign disk", refresh Windows Explorer, and then it should be usable.
