Question printer question

I have an epson printer at home that replaces our old dot matrix printer. I'm just curious if it is true that when you try to refill your epson printer it'll make the ink dry or can damage your printer? how true it is and what if the ink empties, should I refill it or just buy another new cartidge?

It may void your warranty if it's still in effect.

I'm glad I can actually ANSWER something instead of just pleading for questions! I have an Epson printer as well, that I've purchased not only Epson brand cartridges, but some "off-brand" cartridges with no problem. The alternative of using a "fill-your-own-cartridge" system is that you COULD get clogged ink cartridges and clog the ink jets if you take too long to fill the cartridges. Air is your worst enemy no matter WHAT you use when changing ink cartridges. If your printer is still under warranty, check to see if it will be voided if you use anything other than factory Epson cartridges in your machine - as that's a pretty important and costly mistake if you DO need servicing.

I'm not sure about whether my NEWEST option would still be considered a "factory cartridge," but Pacific Ink, at the following link: http://www.pacificink.com/jetpak-in...es-service.html offers to factory re-condition your existing Epson cartridge so it's basically the same as the original but refilled instead of thrown out, and it is about HALF the cost of a new cartridge! I've purchased the pre-paid mailers for my Epson as well as my recently returned Lexmark printer, and the company is great! I'm going to have to do some research, however, on whether my new HP officejet's warranty and extended service plan would be voided if I used Pacific Ink's "reconditioned" cartridges, although it would be difficult for anyone to tell a reconditioned cartridge from the original.

I hope this helps you, otherwise, all I can suggest is let your fingers do the walking through the internet for the cheapest price, (perhaps using epinions.com) or phoning your local stores for the cheapest price, possibly buying in quantity like at a Sam's Club store.

Hmm,

I have never tried to refill an Epson cartridge before, however I used to refill my HP Printer to say money quite a few years ago.

Now, I just buy new ones as it cuts down on the mess and fiddliness of refilling. Plus, my local computer shop recycles old cartridges....
