problem with new DVD writer
Hi,
I wonder if anyone's met this kind of thing before ...
I have a system - Aopen AK77-8XN m'board, Athlon XP 2000,
512M, 2 x IDE HDD, Aopen DVDRom, Aopen CD writer, Windows XP. All working OK.
I decided to replace the CD writer with a DVD writer and chose an LG GSA-4082B.
I installed the DVD writer and basically the PC won't boot - fails during POST with a blank monitor.
If I install just the DVD writer on its own, without the DVD-Rom, everything's OK and the writer seems to function properly. I just don't seem to be able to share IDE2 between the DVD-Rom & DVD writer.
I've tried all the obvious things - cable security, master/slave jumper settings. I've even tried combinations of master/slave arrangements between the DVD-Rom & DVD-writer.
At this stage, I would have probably returned the DVD-writer as being faulty - the strange thing is though, that it works OK on its own.
I just wonder if anyone has any ideas?
Many thanks
