Quantum HD mounted vertically in case
I had problems to fit the 3rd HD in my case, which is a quite old but reliable and solid HD from Quantum (Firebal L30). without entering details I managed to mount the HD vertically instead as the usuall horizontal way. It is working fine but I want to ask if this vertical mounting should be avoided at all costs due increased risk of damage to the HD
I wait your feedback regards this question Thank you |

(^^;?(Fundamentally, no problem. The point is that the installed place should receive less vibration.)
Even if it was installed at a skew, it would be better than receiving any subtile vibration from outside. Last edited by megumi amatuka : October 24th, 2004 at 06:23 PM. |

I agree with megumi amatuka. E-machines come with verticle mount HD's. One thing tho, HD's are one of the hot spots in a case(not the hottest, but they do get warm). So be sure not to block air flow in the case and consider adding or upgrading the case fan.

ok!
Thank you very much for your comments. I put my mind at rest now taht it is ok.. It is not blocking any air currents.
