Question on Intel Motherboard and Chipset
Hi,
I'm considering getting an Asus i5 desktop for my office administration and web development work, as follows:
CPU 2nd generation Intel Core™ i5 - 2400 Processor
(3.10 GHz, 6MB Cache) Processor
Chipset Intel H61 chipset
Memory 4 GB Up
Actually, the issue is that I was quoted for a i5 - 2500, but now the company is out of stock and is offering me a 2400 for the same price. Before I bargain (or don't), I just want to know - is the above a 'good' combination in today's market? For example:
i) the chipset, some research online tells me that the H67 is much better. Is H61 good enough though? I'm sure I've never tried an H67 and the PCs I have been using have all been good enough for me (i3 or lower).
ii) the CPU - I believe there's a $30-35 difference between the i5 2400 and i5 2500 so it's quite a difference if I'm not getting any discount for the downgrade in chip. Is there also a major performance difference?
The other option I have is i5 - 3470 3.2 Ghz 6 MB Cache, which is basically 3rd generation but 3.2Ghz, so I'm not sure what is more worth than the other.
Any quick feedback would be helpful.
Many thanks!
