    Question RAM crazy

i am shopping for DDR3 memory (64 bit OS). so far i found:

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...445&CatId=4527

motherboard supports 240 pin DDR3, 8 channels, with 6 available spots.

i am not sure if to get the one above or two of these:

    any ideas or other suggestions?
    thanks

It really depends on what you are trying to do with the machine. 12/24GB of RAM is a ridiculous amount and most certainly overkill unless this is a server or your doing some serious CAD/graphic design/video editing tasks. If this is just an everyday machine, gaming or otherwise, then you really don't need more than 6GB or so. As for those two choices, they are pretty much the same product in different capacities.

thanks. it will be my next development machine: XAMPP (apache, mysql, perl, php), Mercury mail server, ColdFusion 9, SQL Server 2008 and Oracle 10g will be installed.

Save $50 and get the 24gb one. The only difference is it has slightly slower timing (9-9-9-24 vs 8-8-8-24) and IMO that isn't worth the extra money.
