S ATA drive overheating/crashing Linux
We have a linux (RH9) box, in which we installed two SATA drives. One of the drives (160gb) seems fine, the other(120gb) seems to get very hot, and then hang the machine. (I think this is why the machine is hanging anyway.)
HOWEVER, when we put this drive into an XP machine, and spin it away like gang busters it doesnt get as hot. And it doesnt crash.
Has anyone ever seen this before? Or have you any ideas how we could get the 120gb drive to relax a little in the linux machine. Because its essentially useless in the XP box. It being MS and all...
