Samsung 160 gb Installation troubles..

I recently bought a samsung hdd (Sp1604n 160 gb ata 133 )
which is giving me nightmares ...I have an intel p4 3 gig sittin on a intel D865gbf mobo which worked fine with my gud ol' 120 gb samsung 5400 rpm hdd...

More about the problem..i tranferred my data from my old hdd and a significant amount got unrecoverable once on the new one...is the ata 133 causin all the problem...how do i get on wid it?Any bios tweak?

Which disk manager shud i use to partition it properly so tht i don loose any space?

Then my os hanged just after installation...never did such a thing happen b4....m vary of formattin my new hdd agn n agn as this will damage it...so pls for god's sake...help me!!
