SCSI: Clarification & Cable Availability
This is my first SCSI / RAID experience ...
I have 11 or 12 (haven't decided) SCSI HDDs that I need to connect to my RAID controller card. It's my understanding that I can connect all of these drives on one channel of the controller with one cable as long the drives/controller are Wide SCSI (but only seven if it is Narrow SCSI). Is this correct? If yes, does anybody know where I can get a cable to do this? I need one connector for the card, 11 device connectors (one for each drive), and one for an active terminator. I can't seem to find a cable with connectors for more than seven devices. HDDs have 80-pin connectors (I know I'll need 80-pin to o68-pin adaptors), and I can connect to either the internal or external 68-pin connector on the RAID card. Let me know if you need any additional information.

(^^;?( Correct and Yes, but..)
I have not seen such a long cable yet. However the raid-controller makers advise that if we connect more than 7 drives, we must need 450W or more power supply. If they say so, there must be some convenient ways. You had better inquire for this to the controller maker. |

I guess I might have to get one made or make one myself. |

(^^;(Great!)
But, I assumed that you have enough supply. What I meant is that if they say so, they can tell you where to get the cable. By the by, why do you stick to one long cable? The raid card usually seems to have three sockets, doesn't it? D.I.Y. cable? I envy you so dexeterous. For I have made parallel cross cable, it's pretty troublesome for me to do it. But it became my gem, since it was unavailable here. |

I'm also Junk-mania and mine is again built of Junk and used parts.
But I think you need not any support only to inquire about it. Because and not b/c the cable must not be their original. If you phone them and says "I have(or even bought) XXXraidcard" They would say, "Thank you. what's up? what can I do for you?" "Ah, Where do I ..." "Certainly, sir" That's it. |
