something broke. OS(s) wont install/start/restore

it was working fine yesterday. but then i started my comp and i saw the motherboard logo. then usual testing. then the windows logo. but right before it was ready to go to logon screen it shows the blue screen with some fatal error:
Quote:
STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Session Manager Initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a system status 0xc000026c

i thought itwas the virus i got few days ago. i put different harddrives in different os's but nothing works. even trying to restore stops. everything stops with some fatal error.

now i'm pretty sure it's the hardware. but how do i know which part it is. i mean more likely it's the video card. cause i overclocked it.

but how do i find out for sure what's causing the problem

is it even hardware?

i'm completely clueless. please help. my stupid windows xp doesnt start on other comps. i'm pretty sure it works just doesnt like hardware. but it contains a lot of information i cant delete. and i dont want to

thanks in advance

well it gives different ones for everything i do

(i'm not sure but something like this)

starting windows xp gives blue screen with

Fatal Error: 0x200007
windows is shutting down
Status 0x2000002c

restoring windows 98 gives
Incorrect system type

now linux boots fine and i can login in text
but once i type "startx"
it gives some error about "no screen" or something and goes back to the prompt.

it gives all kinds of errors. i'll record them if u really need me to =D. but i'd have to spend some time putting all those harddrives in and doing the restoring/installing/starting

Well, the general process is to start pulling one piece of hardware at a time until you stop getting errors. For things like the video card, you'll need to swap in a different one to see if it works.

Specific error messages might be helpful though...

Something that you could try doing is resetting the BIOS. Usually on newer motherboard, there is a jumper that you can pull. On older ones, you can pull the battery to reset it. It might be something that it located here that needs to be reset.
