    Unhappy System Glitchy

    Hey Everyone,

I'm having a major problem with my computer and I can't seem to figure out what the deal is. Basically my computer is sending out something that seems like "Lag" only not when i'm online. basically the processor or something to do with memory seems to catch every 5 seconds. If I move my mouse around in a circle I can count to 5 and it will pause, and then re appear somewhere else on the screen. Best way to describe it for me is basically Lag but not from the internet. this is really driving me nutts, and I need to fix it ASAP. Need to play an online game, and when it pauses every 5 seconds it is horrible! Please help! Does anyone know what to do??

What OS are you using? If W2K or XP, check your task manager (Processes tab, double click CPU) and see if something is using up your CPU cycles every 5 seconds.

    Have you scanned for Spyware/Adware/Virus?

    Good luck

    Hey Tom,
Yes I've checked for spyware, adware and scanned for Viruses. No luck with anything. It's a very strange situation indeed. I'm using windows XP. It doesn't seem like anything is really using up all of my CPU, but i could be missing something....

I's suggest rescanning with Spybot and doing an online scan:

Do a free online scan at one of these sites:

    Trend Micro
    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

    Panda ActiveScan
    http://www.pandasoftware.com/actives..._principal.htm

    McAfee FreeScan
    http://us.mcafee.com/root/mfs/default.asp

Download, update, immunize and run to remove spyware/adware:

    Spybot Search & Destroy
    http://www.tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/index1.php
Delete all that it marks in RED.

being i dont know the full specs of the system in question, if this is a slower computer( 1 gig processor or less) the oposite could be true, what on-board virus scanner do you have, notron sucks resources while auto updating, windows could be running auto updates, several programs could all be running at once, i would see what was in the processes, then try to prune out startup and services for things you dont have to have.
She showed me her software so i pulled out my python.
